I base my figures on smaller bases and so my basing technique reflects that but hopefully some useful information in this tutorial whatever size bases you use Link to tutorial

Very nice tutorial, kind of counters the myth that people get into 6mm so they dont need to worry about the detail..... Nice

Some of the painting you see here rivals 15mm painting and larger too.
Some do paint for a more basic finish, neither is wrong, though some of the detail some of the guys get plainly is not fair LOL

One of the reasons I started this forum was to counter that myth, I used to get a lot of comments on other forums that 6mm is abstract and doesant need any detail because you can't see it from 2 foot away, I was introduced to miniatures by games workshop and to 6mm by there epic range where everyone was expected to paint there figures to the highest standard they could achieve with shading decals and more, so I when I started in 6mm naps I took the same approach , and was a little surprised by some of the reactions, I have been called insane, nuts, crazy, told I'm wasting my time and more by adding certain detail ie buttons, but I like the look and as long as I can I will add these details.
Crazy,nuts,insane, richard !!

I totally agree Richard. Basically if I am not really pleased with how my figures and my terrain look then I just can't summon up the enthusiasm to be bothered doing them. I do lots of board gaming - mostly Euro games now but I started with traditional board wargames - and if the figures didn't look good then I would rather just do a board game. I bother with figures because of the extra dimension which only comes through if the figures are as good as I can get them. I also enjoy painting if I am proud of what I am doing. Now I have a spare room for gaming and I have lots of display cabinets I also get to gaze on my lovely figures every day whereas they used to sit in travel boxes - this has been a real boost to making progress on both my Naps and WW2!

A nice and simple method but incredibly effective, thanks for sharing.
