I have 4 inch high wood board around the edge of my 5 x 12 table. To finish things off, I would like to cover the inside of this with a 4 inch high scenic background all the way around. Looked at model train suppliers, but they are expensive for this, not sure how to get the right size and scale for some hills, forest, sky. I could try painting my own, but I wondered how other people handled this. Some may not enclose the edge of their tables this way, but the boards also support the styro panels that cover the whole thing to keep the dust out. How can I make them add to the scenery? Bruce

I have a 2" rim around my table but have only put a backdrop on one end against the wall. The rim I have painted sky blue which looks ok if you are taking low level photos of 6mm figs. If you wanted to make it more scenic you could probably get away with an abstract representation painted on with a piece of sponge or similar.

Good ideas, thank you. The downloads are very interesting and it turns out there are a lot of them. Trying to splice some together to get the right looks. Meanwhile, I actually have painted some decent looking sky after googling how to do this as well. Every so often I realize how astounded I am at how far and fast we have come thanks to our connectivity! Bruce

I realised after completing my forest project that there is a certain harmony to building something that just works. This is the sign in use that tells me I have the perfect process in place. It's best shown when you start and finish a project before you realise it.
