Morning chaps, Please use this thread to post up the images and links to how to if available for the battlefield layout that you like or have built yourself. Just browsing about the webs for some inspiration for my own project when I came across this image from the Two Fat Lardies blog. It was sinfully simple to build also, well worth a look. You know how much I hate a flat field and this method is so simple there is no excuse now for anyone to play on a flat table. toofatlardies.co.uk/blog/?p=403#Ooiittee

This is two of my favorite battle scapes. I found the first one while doing research for my Salamanca boards. www.sitiohistoricolosarapiles.com/diorama_galeria2.phpsome great pics there of the landscape, it is 10mm I believe. The other is Captain Siborne's diorama of Waterloo. Lifetime of work and fantastic.

ooiittee, this is a great idea for an ongoing thread. I share your feelings about flat battlefields and have been cutting low pieces of craft styro and slipping them under my mats to make rolling terrain for years. My ongoing project, not counting my rules collecting obsession, is to find the my best balance between realism and playability for battlefields and the physical mechanics of gaming. I have tried a lot of different ideas for terrain elements, flexible basing systems, scenic features, etc. I have made mats from several materials looking for a surface that allows for smooth, easy movement, while still giving a decent impression. I want flexibility to fight battle after battle in a campaign with lots of different looks through easy to set up components that look good.
For me, finding this balance is an essential part of this hobby and very enjoyable. Your boards remind me of Bruce Weigle's - but now you are balancing that professional look with the flexibility to change battlefield looks with your system. Brilliant! I will be posting some pics in the not too distant future and look forward to more pics and links from everyone. Bruce
