For me the big turn off over there remains the tone. His list of civility rules for participating is quite extensive. Lots of info, but it can get snippy. We will see. This forum is mostly about one thing, stays focused, very knowledgable - a friendly, mutually supportive community. My Napoleonic home remains here. Bruce

I might visit TMP but I would never join. The most innocent of comments seem to easily turn into major arguments. I will be interested to see how this goes. In the meantime, if I need an argument I will try these guys.

I just giggled at this post!
"Why? Just because there was vote and did the voters have a specific agenda that could only be resolved with a new board?"
Its nice to see democracy is alive and well hehe.

Aye it is Pete, and I get the impression that most of the American contributors don't like 6mm (present forum company excepted of course)

I go on TMP most days, there is a great deal of knowledge on there but some of the people you just wouldn't want to associate with, unlike here which is a gentlemanly and very helpfull forum.

Very nice photo as usual, Tim! I see you are trying to raise the level of discourse there. From the other posts, it looks like the Captain's Pythons may have preceded you. Always good to take the high road, well done! Bruce

I agree Richard, 6mm needs pushing to the front. Pete Berry at Baccus has been pushing for years now and does a brilliant job. Theres even an article on his website, "I can't paint anything that small", which is a good read. Yesterday I had a quick look at TMP and saw the bickering in the first post, small minded people a lot of them. Just a question though, can we have a 2mm post on Perfectsix? LOL!!!! only joking!!!! (that said I do have a load of 2mm horse & musket) Mike

Well, 2mm would certainly make the painting contests interesting! I have often wondered about these tiny guys but as I get older, the eyes may not be up to it. Still, this would solve table space issues for some.
I have heard 6mm referred to as "God's chosen scale" by some, perhaps less so here in the States, but TMP, even though it has a large audience and could promote the scale, needs to address its issues and rise above the petty stuff or I think they lose some people like us. Bruce

Bruce I got the 2mm in my younger days (I'm 59) so it was some time ago. I even entered a ACW Union Division into a painting comp here in Perth Western Australia, no categories just an all in mainly 15 & 28mm. A war hammer type thing won. Anyway, 6mm is my scale now, and as Pete Berry says, plus a few others in the past, Gods Scale it is. Mike

Hey gents
I tend to see it this way. The more attention our period and scale gets the better developments will come in the future.
With GW being the be all and end all for teens and young adults in so many cases, exposure to alternatives is important. While P6 is a focused forum we are not going to see this traffic. If TMP can inspire just a few young gamers to become old Nappers, bring it.

I agree with the 'smaller is better' idea and have done for the last twenty five years or so. As you can read on my post on the new Members Map thread, my 6mm is quite an eclectic collection from throughout history and even beyond. I like it because I only have a small table- 5x4- so everything I get is geared to that size. It makes for a varied collection if nothing else! Without wishing to start a discussion, I reckon the other place -although there are some very knowledgeable people on there- attracts more than its fair share of...whatever you want to call them which spoils it for a lot of people. I have a look periodically, add the very occasional comment but that's it. Luckily, there are other, far more friendly and interesting fora around.

I find it really amusing that my recent blog post went up here and on the new forum at TMP and the folks that replied there are two folks from here .. heheh. I have to admit though that the number of hits I received from TMP made the excercise very worthwhile.
