A group of Canadian.. errr.. Scots Guards. These men were all from Canada. The event was very multinational with people from all over Europe, North America, Australia, and I believe Wellington was a New Zealander. I am sure these guys need no introduction..... A bunch of Germans. More Prussians. What the heck? Austrians? And some Barvarians. Several days before the reenactment our bus went past a chap in white with a furry hat. Almost everyone looked out the right hand windows and in unison exclaimed "That's an Austrian grenadier!" confirming that we were all Napoleonic geeks. We thought that he was perhaps lost and was the only representative of the Hapsburg Empire. Howevere, we soon found a whole army of Austrians: line infantry, grenadiers, jäger. The average Napoleonic soldier seems to have been well fed. There was a good assortment of artillery on display. Unfortunately, this was all moved by hand (bricole anyone), with no limbers in sight :s_sad I am not sure who these chaps were. Perhaps someone could enlighten me. Dutch? Goodness, doesn't one of those chaps look a bit like a girl? Actually, there were a lot of women in the reenactors. Some were camp followers - a collection of officers wives, cantaniers, soldiers wives, but none were dressed as floozies and strumpets. Female soldier reenactors are called Bobs" after Kate/Bob in Blackadder. More to come. Photobucket has just done something funny. Hope it resolves soon.
