Hi All,
I'd hope that a few of you on the forum may already be aware of the The The Joy of Six wargames show taking place in Sheffield on Sunday 19th July. It's a celebration of all things 6mm and this year we'll have a particularly strong Napoleonic theme in the show with four games from the period:
Waterloo (Lee Sharpe and Ian Willey)
Arguably the most iconic land battle in Britain's history and with each battalion of infantry, regiment of horse and battery of guns represented arguably the only scale that can get away with this is 6mm.
Project Waterloo is a three year plan seeing just two idiots build up the troops, buildings and terrain that will be only displayed at The Joy of Six. Each of us took a different route in building up of the troops whilst the purpose built boards were all one man whilst the other worked on the buildings. Table size 18 x 6 feet with Hougoumont taking up almost a A4 footprint by itself.
Gorodetschna 12th August 1812 (Commission figurines)
As an alternative to the usual battles displayed, this action was not fought by the French but by her allies. In this case the Austrian Auxiliary Corps and the Saxon VII corps of the Grande Armee, under the able command of Austrian Feld Marshal Prince Schwarzenberg.
Facing them the Russian 3rd Army of the West under the command of General Tormassov.
Ligny (Lead Commanders)
The 'other' big bash from 1815 staged on a similar scale to the Waterloo game.
Polemos Napoleonic participation (Chris Grice)
A game for you take part in. This will be the first public outing of a game entirely played out using the forthcoming Napoleonic rules app - no rules or charts needed, just a mobile phone or a tablet, with the device doing all the calculations and tracking progress.
In addition, we'll have trade stands featuring Baccus, Wargames Emporium, Heroics and Ros, Leven,Timecast and Total Battle Miniatures.
A Great day out!
Cheers
Peter
