I`ve been building a model for d`Erlon`s attack at Waterloo and it`s just starting to come together now... the model is 4x4 feet with a scale of 1cm = 23 yards. It was built up in contours using 2mm wall-liner, smoothed out with coloured wall filler material. I`m now in the process of adding woods and hedges using card formers and flexible foliage.
Picture of progress below:
I`ve also scratch-built some simplified buildings and farmsteads to go with the terrain and the next photo shows those in place earlier in the build:

Hi gmaneuvre, great work!
I thinking to build the waterloo playground with a scale of 1cm = 15 meters (very close from 23 yards) with the same technique.
How did you manage the vertical scale ? the first picture look like it's pretty "flat"....
By the way, i waiting for more pict.

These look fantastic. Can i see a few more shots of the contouring work you have done (table level).
It does need that something else to finish it off, flocking or some other 3rd dimensions for the fields. Colours look good and buildings and greenery work is superb.

I don`t plan to flock because I will be using 6mm figures and I`m trying to keep the playing surface as smooth as possible... but I may yet add some painted highlights to the dark green fields and work on the lighter areas too.

Finishing the scenery today - just tidying up one or two blemishes and covering up a few mistakes - photos to follow. Then I`ll be looking to the game rules.

I`m finished with this terrain.. I`m going to think about putting some toy soldiers on it now !
La Haye Sainte to "Wellington's Tree" also showing some field crop details - brassicas, potatoes or beet perhaps ?
La Haie and Smohain from the south...
Frischermont-Smohain from the north, showing the Ohain stream, rough pasture, and orchards...

Great looking boards. Have you thought about giving them a gentle drybrush for a little colour variety?
