I just treated myself to a mat from Terrain Mat. I usually use stand alone hills but there is one thing they cannot do and that is a very long ridge (Waterloo for instance). Well you can if you make yourself one from insulation foam but that works out wastefull and expensive so I thought the mat a good investment and a lot more flexible. It looks a bit more realistic as well I think. A lone battalion sat on top a ridge. The hill is about 50mm high and made by just stuffing some plastic carrier bags under the mat. I will use something a bit more substantial when it come to actually playing, but this was just for a quick piccie. A picture to give an idea of the texture which seems fo be a fine sawdust based flock. The colour is better on the other picture but I had to get the lights in close for this shot so it's a bit washed out. This particular mat is called Steppe Green but they do all sorts of colours and in many sizes including a custom option. Tim

Tim, I saw the post (or a post anyway) before pictures were added. I was expecting an A4 size sort of thing (which I recently saw at a show). Not huge mats! Looks interesting. I have just had a look at the site. I have a lot of terrain board so may start with some roads. Do you have any? I was not sure quite what the various options might look like

Hi Steve, for roads and rivers I use Timecast's new range of flexible stuff link. Some pictures on my blog on the terrain and scenery page. Tim
