Just wondering if any else is using the brilliant 3mm miniatures from pico armour. Lots of detail to paint and good on the pocket especially for a grand tactical gamer like me. I also have some ww2 and acw in this scale

I do! I love these figs, very high quality castings for such a tiny size. I have French and Austrian armies. They are fantastic for travel, both armies fit in a small plastic container. and go in my bag with a rolled up Chessex battlemat so I can play anywhere. (That my wife will let me)
While we all acknowledge that 6mm is the best scale on earth, there is much to recommend 3mm. The Oddzial Osmy, or O8, line from Poland, carried by Pico Armor are the only ones I even know about. They also carry ACW, Great War, WW2, Modern, tons of aircraft.
Great service from Pico. All affordable with amazing detail considering the scale. I do take some time to paint them as they are cast, but it is simple and easy. I mount 30 infantry to a 25MM square translucent plastic base, leaving room at the rear to mark hits with a washable marker ot ID a unit. I almost converted entirely to them at one point, but I went back to 6mm because they adapted more readily to rules I was trying out. Now I go back and forth.
I also discovered that I could easily make all the 3mm buildings I needed with some balsa wood and an Xacto miter box. I use scatter to make trees and woods.
You are right on, Pete, as far as grand tactical goes. With these figs, you can fight huge battles in small spaces which still looking at recognizable figures. Truly a great massed effect. Bruce
