A couple of photos from an excellent engagement this evening between two Prussian Corps and two French Corps in an 1813 game using Volley & Bayonet. The French, with the burden attack, hit the Prussian left and centre. Pressed from the front and flank three Prussian divisions were forced back. Yet one division repelled a Young Guard Division. Below, the French left, held by a reinforced Polish Division. The main French attacks gain momentum, routing further Prussian regiments. The French, and German allies, continue to advance against the now exposed Prussian centre. However, Blucher despite heavy casualties continues to form further lines of defence. Another enjoyable game!

I do like the look of these games! Just the right number of units, good system, the board looks good, and you get a game played in reasonable time. I think this is called balance! I have come to a similar conclusion. I often use Neil Thomas or Charles Grant generic scenarios, they are both excellent, many loosely based on actual battles. Neither calls for large numbers of troops, although adaptable, and I have a great time competing against myself to secure either side's objective. Bruce

I'm glad the photos are of interest.
I don't have my OOB with me at the moment but I suspect the French fielded around 16 to 18 infantry brigades, five cavalry brigades plus 6 or so artillery battalions, where each gun represents around 12 pieces. The Prussians had a few extra though two divisions only arrived late in the battle. So probably representing 35,000 French infantry, 5,000 cavalry and 80 guns.
The photos don't really do justice to the French divisions advancing against the Prussian left, they were constrained by space.
My opponent and I probably played for 3 hours on Friday evening. So yes a good balance of time, scope & visuals. The week prior a group played a ACW game which was of similar size and lasted a similar time, or perhaps a little longer.

Very pleased people have found these photos of interest.
I've never really understood why 6mm Napoleonic gaming is not more popular. With well presented miniatures combined with good terrain it can look excellent.

Totally agree, could be snob value or a lot of people just can't paint 6mm
