Just got my frst order from Leven.
What's the recommended colour/method for undercoating resin buildings?
Cheers

Mel,give them a wash in warm soapy water and then rinse first to get rid of any releasing agent from the mould. Then I usually spray with Citadel skull white (now called Corax white I think).I find white lifts the colours a bit and most of my 6mm stuff is Spanish anyway which are mainly whiteish when finished. I use chaos black for bigger stuff like 28mm.

Yes, a white or grey undercoat seems to work best. Important to wash them thoroughly first though to remove the release agent - otherwise the paint will just run off!

Well, looks like we all have some different ideas. I use only Leven buildings, do not wash or rinse them after I forgot once and could see no difference, but it's the safe thing to do. I undercoat with straight black for my French, German, Austrian buildings. I am sure Tim and David are right about the Spanish buildings. My style is a bit more Gothic.
My new Leven casts arrived recently as a medium dark grey, they used to be tan. So this may be a factor as well, I haven't started on them yet.
It was trial and error for me to start with, different paints, inks etc. I painted a number of buildings more than once until I started to get the hang of it. Maybe try a couple different shades and see what looks right to you and suits your style. Bruce

Thanks, Keith, for the reminder about Tim's masterful tutorial. Seems so long ago! Bruce
