Hi guys, do you have problems with the ink coming off the standards, especially the ones from Baccus? Well I. Use good old fashioned felt tip pens, they work a treat and ideal for the white edges that usually occur when folded around the standard pole. Just thought I would share this with you. Colin

I bend them to shape and then give them a good spray with varnish. Makes them more or less waterproof and then sort the edges out.

What I am talking about is when you paste them together. I am not heavy handed with them but the ink seems to come off on the obverse and reverse faces of the standards. When printing and using war flags do they do the same? Or does this depend on what paper and ink. The other thing I would like to know is what % do you print the war flags at when using word. I do not have the software that is suggested they are down copied to. Any/suggestions would be appreciated.

I use Baccus flags for French and never really had a problem. What glue are you using Colin? I use neat PVA as its nice and thick and doesn't soak into the paper to much and I apply it sparingly with a cocktail stick. I use Warflags for the British (Baccus are a bit on the small side)and I think I size them down to about 25% but you may have to experiment a bit. Print a sheet out in black and white just to test your sizing, its cheaper than colour. I print onto photo quality inkjet paper which has a coating on one side (don't use the thick stuff just the thin paper). The next batch I do I'm going to put the resized files on a thumb drive and take them to a print shop and see what they come out like on a good laser printer. Hope that is of help.

I agree - size down to about 25% and that should be about right.

I have experimented with the Baccus flags. I give the whole flag sheet a coating in neat pva as it dries clear. This gives the flags a bit of body and the ink stays on the sheet without losing any detail. The Saxon flags are the worst with the edging detail. I still use good old felt tip pens for the edges, as being shade blind it is easier than trying to match up the paint. I would appreciate your comments and thoughts. Colin
