Thanks for the feedback. The took four attempts to get the flag attached, first time was crooked, second time up-side down, third time couldn't get ot passed the eagle! LOL

Very nice. Can I ask what is the difference in the skakos - one company appears to have the colour banding? Thanks

My tip for 6mm flags (for what its worth). Don't even bother to wrap it around the flag pole. Leave the excess bit that is supposed to cover the pole, fold the flag in half to get perfectly straight and glue it together. When dry, cut off the excess bit and glue directly to the pole. Paint flag pole to match the flag colour.

The colored banding (yellow) was to highlight the light company (volitgeurs) which some units adopted. Not sure it the 8th did or didn't but it looked cool form a distance.

Tim not sure I follow exactly, but it might be similar to what I tend do which is to cut out the flag fold it in two, glue the furthest away edges with pva glue but ensure there is a unglued loop/hole to allow dropping the flag onto the flag pole. I then tend to superglue the flag pole and slide the flag on, using forceps to close any gaps. In this case the flags was on the small side and the eagle got in the way. Also using my method, if you are chube and fix it the flag upside down it can be a case of getting the scalpels out and starting again.

Sorry a bit unclear, I cut the loop bit off completely and just glue the flag to the back of the pole then paint the pole to match the flag. IE pre 1812 French flag pole is blue over red to match the flag sections.
