We hit BIG this weekend, Rob and myself and we made a new friend, Glen. Rob had put together a scenario that challenge him to fight a delaying action with 2 Brigades of British Line Infantry with some support from 2 Light Infantry Regiments against 2 French Infantry Divisions supported by a Division of Cavalry. This was going to get messy. Command Orders, OoB and photos are uploaded on my blog on the below link warterrainaustralia.blogspot.com/2015/08/battle-report-big-9th-august-2015.html

I'm in Sydney. I'd like to know some of you source for materials. Gets expensive bringing it all in from overseas.

So...ooiittee
Fantastic looking terrain once again, very nice website, this work reminds me of Bruce Weigle. A question for you, along with the Ian and Lee team and any others who create these wonderful tables. What happens when you are done? Do you keep playing on this one for a while until you are ready for a change? Do you have a number of different boards stored? Ian and Lee, what happens with your lovely Waterloo table now? Of course it can be used again, but it is specific to its locale.
I ask because I keep gearing myself to portable, changeable scenics and playing surfaces(various mats) for quick changes and simplified storage, but the idea of committing to a project like you guys do is inspiring and intriguing. How do the logistics of storing and using these tables work out? Bruce

It stacks to a 1m by 50cm by 1m block, and when I get my bags finished will be transportable with shoulder carry straps and a backpack in 2 board lots. The design for this board was to see if I could find a way to address my concerns as a gamer on the Salamanca table I built. Storage. Transport. Re playability. Watch this space.

I find the rule set frustrating at times but its by far the best way to show new players napoleonic games and its pretty quick to play. I have just finished reading altar of freedom and are working on using that for a rule set as its simple as also.

I bought Neil's rules a couple of months ago, had a read and put them on the shelf. Not really happy with the size of the armies. I'll have to have a better look at them now. I bought AOF rules and both battle books sometime ago and like the look of them for ACW. PerthPete also bought AOF. I think he tinkered with the idea of trying to adapt them for Napoleonic's. He's now bought ACW mini's.

I actually ignore the army limits and use the unit morale ratings as a guide. The other rule we changed so we could have more artillery as an army would have is that instead of the guns rolling 2d6 halved and 1d6 halved for long and short range repectively, play that artillery rolls 1 hit for long (12-48cm) and 1d6 halved for short (12cm).
As for AOF i am working on using Empire 5th ed generals stats to work out leaders but i will be light on characteristics for them. Maybe we could do this as a group.

I also happen to have Empire III & V (played version III) why back in the 80's, not played V) and I'm sure perthpete would be interested in jigging AOF for Napoleonics.
Do you just halve to die score, i.e. roll 6 read 3 etc? I just maybe having a OAP moment understanding what you said above about the dice for artillery?

In NT rules (Neil Thomas ) he has only 1 artillery stand per army. That is outrageous, ask any french commander. This is due to the random number of dice they roll to hit each turn. NT has 2d6 halved the result rounded up to determine short range. 1d6 halved for long.
This leaves an army with 5 stands of artillery doing way to devastating damage. So we have said to determine the number hit rolls a battery gets for short range roll 1d6 and halve rounded up and only 1 hit if the shot is long.
