Decided to try out our Hougoumont assault to see if we could craft it to something like the real thing. Very happy with how it worked especially as we plugged in the Commands & Colors combat system with a few tweaks, full report on my blog (ling at the bottom of the post. Thanks Ian. Great report and pics on the blog for this - what a table in the making, looks fantastic! Wondering what rules you were using before you modified C&C, which I know you have been playing recently. I think you might have mentioned having your own. The results for these look very good however, enjoyable and not bogged down. You are heading for a great Waterloo! Very well done, Bruce

Very well done, Bruce Hi Bruce Yes our own rules have taken bits from other systems such as move distances from Polomus and bidding for activation influenced by a number of rule sets. Both sides through a D6 for which formation they want to move, big games will be corps smaller would be divisions which goes on till one side has used up it's commands then the other side gets to use up some of their remaining activations dependant on who is their C-in-C or other reasons. Normally only one goes inactivated. Corps that are all cavalry get a +1 to the roll and if you stick with your formation that was beaten you get a +1 (or +2 if beaten two rounds on the trot). Often you end up having to swap formations as you react to the new threats opened up from the previous activation. Really adds tension to the battle and some hard choices. Using the C&C battle dice actually just speeds up and simplifies the combat system we had in place whilst it's a less detailed system it's much faster. If playing smaller battles we will stick with our usual combat system but for the big stuff this seems the perfect answer. We will be playtesting the battle rules a fair bit over the next month or two then getting it on with the game. Ian
