Read through and played a short test game of these rules, so thought I'd give my opinions of them in a review on my blog, which can be found here: nickthelemming.wordpress.com/2015/02/08/bluecher-a-review/I really like these rules, they're nice and simple as are all Sam Mustafa's fames, with a lot of period feel, and I can see we're going to be using them a lot in the future.

Great review and a very interesting set of rules one question could 2 bases of 40x30 work as a single unit in this game?

Great review and a very interesting set of rules one question could 2 bases of 40x30 work as a single unit in this game? Richard Most definitely. I deliberately use metal bases in my recent projects so I can use magnetic strip as a base and combine elements. I am using 40x20 for infantry and 40x 40 for cavalry and two of these fit nicely on a blucher card. If you go to his honour website he has downloadable cards if you want to try out base combinations. Yes, as long as both players' armies are based the same way, you're fine. Mine are all 80mm by 60mm bases, but I could just as easily use my Lasalle 15mm (on 40x30 bases, putting 4 together to form a unit), my Grand Armee stuff (on 2" square bases) or my old Principles of War stuff (based on 30x10 bases, could put either 4 together or 6 if I preferred).

Thanks for the review Nick I am also a Mustafa fan, like LaSalle. I think overall if I had to use one source for rules, this would be it. He is great at creating a playable game. Now he has captured the big picture. I have not picked up Blucher yet, thinking about how it might work for solo. (No good hiding the MO dice under a cup!)
I also have March Attack, not dissimilar in concept, but there are not many writers and illustrators as clear as Sam. Still, I am sort of distilling several sources of rules and putting together my own thoughts for the moment. Bruce

Bruce, Some bright spark on the Honour forum has come up with a solution for the MO dice for solo players based on Java and it works in your browser (you have to have a laptop, PC or tablet near you wargames table of course) have a look here: Random generatorYou have to sign up and loggin before you can download it or if you PM me with your email address I can send you the file. Tim: great, much thanks for this, looks good, I should be able to download, have not been there for a while (all my time is spent here!) I will try it out. I know I am going to get Blucher anyway! Bruce
PS Well that's that - just ordered it like I knew I had to - if I ever finish pondering all this AND painting maybe I will finally have a game! Onward!
