Anonnymouse's post on Papelotte was very interesting. However I'm not sure that Leven Miniatures got the west wall correct. My understanding is that the west wall should be a wall with a non-vaulted gate and annexes on the inside. This was rebuilt after 1815, being replaced by a vaulted gate and stables. The tower was built on top of this new vaulted gate about 50 years after Waterloo. Here is my take on the farm in 1815... www.littlewars.se/candc/building_papelotte.html

So the question is ... why didn't you send me the pictures when I asked if anyone had any details ... and don't come back with 'you weren't a member at the time' - that is no excuse - LOL. In this case I wish you had joined earlier, then I wouldn't have made a boo-boo.
I worked from a 10mm cardboard model of the farm, and originally made the belvedere as part of the model until someone told me it was post Waterloo. aaaah well, we live and learn don't we. Anyway, thanks for the info - oh and welcome to the forum I'm sure you'll enjoy the experience.
Then again, if you have details of Frichermont Chateau would love to hear from you.
